The Narconon facility in Oklahoma has been in the headlines recently because of a major lawsuit by the parents of one girl who they allege ended up in a chronic vegetative state after she entered their residential treatment program. There have been other serious injuries and deaths at this facility.
Judge to rule in Narconon Arrowhead case this week – Sept 14, 2013
McALESTER — A judge is set to rule this week if Narconon Arrowhead will have to produce documents related to incidents of drug and alcohol use by its staff, according to court documents. The lawsuit against Narconon was filed on behalf of a Narconon graduate now in a vegetative state after overdosing on heroin and oxycontin.
Narconon officials plan to reapply for license for detox center in McAlester – August 10, 2013
The facility lost its temporary state certification to conduct detox services, a spokesman for the state’s substance abuse agency said. Stacy Dawn Murphy, 20, was found dead in a detox room on July 19, 2012. Three months earlier, Hillary Holten, 21, was found dead in her bed on April 11, 2012. On Oct. 26, 2011, Gabriel Graves, 32, was found dead in his bed at the facility.

Narconon is a scientology front group that purports to be able to effectively treat addiction to narcotics without use of mainstream methods. Instead, Narconon relies on L. Ron Hubbard’s writings, which claim that drugs are stored in our fat tissues. As the fat tissue is broken down, the drugs are released back into the system. Narconon claims that the drugs can be flushed using massive doses of vitamins, exercise and saunas. This is not supported by empirical evidence.
